Shared Boxing Gear: Set Up a Clear Inspection and Cleaning Routine
Shared club equipment needs a routine that someone actually owns. A shelf full of gloves is useful only when staff know what is ready for use and what needs attention.
Give the equipment an identity
Use a suitable label or storage position to keep track of each item without altering a protective surface or fastening. Record the model and size where practical. This makes it easier for a coach to report a problem with a particular pair rather than “one of the black gloves”.
Follow the product's care instructions
Use the manufacturer's recommended cleaning and drying methods. Do not assume every material tolerates the same chemical, heat or soaking process. Keep items needing cleaning separate from those ready for the next class. Mouthguards should be personal items, not shared club equipment.
Create a simple stop-use process
Give staff somewhere to place damaged or questionable gear so it does not return to the shelf by mistake. Record the issue and let the responsible person decide what to do next, using the maker's guidance where needed. Keep replacement ordering separate from the daily check so budget discussions do not turn into continued use of unsuitable equipment. Boxing Forge can help identify a listed replacement or discuss a clearly specified club order.
